Modvigil is a medicine that is indicated usually by doctors to enhance alertness and wakefulness in adults who have extreme sleepiness due to obstructive sleep apnea or sleep work disorder. In the case of obstructive sleep apnea, this medication is indicated to treat only the hindered sleep cycle and not the underlying obstruction. If other methods like continuous positive Airway pressure are used for the treatment of obstruction then it should be used to its maximum effort before using Armodafinil for excessive sleepiness and should be continued during the Armodafinil therapy.
Dosage
The suggested dose of ARMODAFINIL for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) or narcolepsy patients is 150 mg to 250 mg to be taken by mouth once daily as in the morning. In OSA patients, up to 250 mg/day of a dose can be given as a single dose and is well-tolerated; however, no consistent evidence has been found that these doses have extra benefit when given above 150 mg/day dose.
The recommended dosage for SWD patients is 150 mg to be taken by mouth one time daily about 1 hour before the work shift starts.
Modvigil present in Armodafinil may lead to addiction if taken chronically or in a larger dose than directed by the doctor.
