A SteamDB listing may have leaked the upcoming release date of Poppy Playtime Chapter 2. Indie developer MOB games announced the Poppy Playtime sequel less than a year after the first took Steam by storm. The first entry in the survival horror series places players in the shoes of an ex-Playtime Co. employee, who returns to the toy factory after receiving a strange letter and VHS tape from long-missing former staffers. Of course, the true terror kicks into high gear when players encounter Huggy Wuggy, the monstrous being who typically serves as Playtime Co.’s mascot.
Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 Official Release Date
It didn’t take long for the horrific blue monster to become the stuff of nightmares given Poppy Playtime’s meteoric rise in popularity throughout the last several months. After Poppy Playtime’s port to Android and iOS devices a few weeks ago, even more horror fans patiently await the forthcoming release of Chapter 2, which looks as though it will considerably increase the scare factor. And recent developments suggest players will get to determine that much for themselves in the very near future. As reported by Gamereactor, the SteamDB page for Poppy Playtime lists the release date of Chapter 2 as April 29.
The “Release Date” section near the top of the Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 page on SteamDB simply says, “Coming Soon.” However, the “Store API Release Date” box at the bottom mentions April 29 as the due date. This information could prove inaccurate, so it’s best to take the SteamDB information with a grain of salt for the time being. A screenshot of the listing in question appears below: Again, it doesn’t seem as though the above mentioned April release date for Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 is set in stone as of yet. When developer and publisher MOB Games intends to share such details presently remains a mystery, as well. At the very least, fans can rest assured the sequel’s launch remains on track for a 2022 rollout.
The terrifying iconography associated with Poppy Playtime has already become the stuff of legend. Chapter 2 could see the property’s influence elevated further, too, especially if Mommy Long Legs catches on like Huggy Wuggy before her. Unsurprisingly, ongoing talk about what MOB Games has in store for Chapter 2 continues to ignite discourse comparing Poppy Playtime to Five Nights at Freddy’s, another toy-centric horror phenomenon that managed to explode outside of the gaming sphere. It’s possible the MOB Games-created brand will similarly reach the stratosphere in the years ahead.
